(1).
First, we need to pick out some speakers for your car. I
believe all front door speakers are the same, which would be 3.5" .
The speakers I choose to hold me over until I save up for components were
the Alpine SPS-080A 3.5's. |

(2).
Open your drivers/passenger door and look behind the interior door handle.
Use a small screwdriver to pry this elliptical piece of plastic off.
Once removed, if you look at the back of it, you will notice an extra tab
on one side. The side with the extra tab will be the bottom;
remember this when re-installing the small panel. |
 |
|
(3).
After the small elliptical panel is off, it exposes two screws.
These screws use a T-30 star bit. Remove these two screws and place
them somewhere safe. |
 |
|
(4).
Grab a medium size flathead screwdriver and go look at at your door
handle. You will notice there are two small slots in it; one on the
bottom, one up top. Now, do not try to pry the bezel off. The
object of this is to push the screwdriver down at a 45 degree angle.
Do this when pulling back on the handle. Once the lower portion is
free, you should be able to work the rest of the bezel off. If it
does not come freely, repeat the above process for the upper portion of
the bezel. |
 |
|
(5).
Shows the bezel removed from the door panel. |
 |
|
(6).
Next, go obtain a smaller screwdriver and cloth. Wrap the end of the
screwdriver in the cloth and gently pry, from the bottom, the door
reflector. Do not pry from the top because there are two tabs
holding it on there (you will break them). Once you have freed the
bottom of the door reflector, pull upward and toward you to remove it
completely. |
 |
|
(7).
There really was no "purpose" per-say to remove the door reflector.
However, I found it easier to get the door panel off. With the
reflector now removed, we can now use the opening to help pry the door
panel off. I pulled carefully, yet forcefully on the passenger side
door panel, and it popped right off. The drivers side did not want
to budge (and I was pulling so hard I was afraid if it gave way disaster
may strike). Thus, we can just use a larger flathead screwdriver
(with a cloth wrapped around the top) and use the same technique we used
to get the door reflector off. Once the door panel has begun to
loosen, it is much easier to pull off. However, DO NOT pull the door
panel directly off. The door panel is sitting on a ledge up top.
After pulling the connectors off, pull the entire door panel upward to
lift it from the ledge. |
 |
|
(8).
With the door panel removed from the actual door, there is one thing left
holding it on. This is the black clip (clear on the drivers side).
Gently push down on the clip and pull it from its socket. With that
done we can now put the door panel somewhere else. |
 |
|
(9).
We now have access to
the speaker. Go get your 1/4" socket, and remove the four screws
holding the speaker in. Pull the speaker out, and you will notice
there are connectors going to the speaker which power it. Pull these
off, and remove the speaker. All that is left is to connect the new
speaker to the wires from the door. If the + and - terminals match
up, you may be able to clip the new speaker right in where the stock one
was. I was not able to do this, therefore I spliced into the wire
and attached the new speaker. Use electrical tape! |
 |
|
(10). Attach
the new speaker, and screw it back into place. It only used two of
the existing holes (vs. the four for the stock speaker) so I stored the
other two screws incase I ever need to put the stock speakers back in.
And with that, you are done! Put everything back together, and get
ready to enjoy the sound of new midrange madness! |
