(1).
First, we need to pick out some speakers for your car. If you have a
Z06, C5 Vert, or FRC, the rear speakers will be 5.25" .
They will be 6.5" for the C5 coupe. The speakers I choose
to hold me over until I save up for components were the Alpine SPS-130A
5.25's. |
 |
|
(2).
First, we must remove the bolt holding the seatbelt on. In order to
take the bolt holding on the seatbelt, you need a special star bit.
I, however, used a hexagon bit that fit. I did not strip/slide the
bit or bolt thankfully. You can see in the picture it is a size 6.
I am in the process of finding the correct size bit. When you have
unscrewed the bolt, place it somewhere where you will remember. |

|
(3). There will
be three interior pieces we will need to take out. In this picture
we can see that there is a plastic fastener that is holding the long
plastic piece in place. There are two of these fasteners, one on
each side. When these two fasteners have been taken out, pull the
long plastic piece toward you gently. It is held on by three clips
and will pop out if enough force is used. |
 |
|
(4).
This picture shows the long plastic piece off. Now, there are two
more pieces we must remove. There is a smaller panel that pulls off
easily - it is held on by two clips (see picture). The last panel we
need to take off is the one that actually hides the speaker. We have
already taken the seat belt bolt out, and the other two panels. You
will see that there is a plastic fastener holding on the last piece of
plastic. Pop that out. Now the panel is only being held on by
a few clips. Gently pry the panel off and you will be set to start
the install! |
 |
|
(5).
This shows the three panels that should be removed from your car in order
to install the new midrange speakers. |
 |
|
(6). With
all the panels now removed, we have access to the speaker. The
speaker is held on by four 7mm screws. Simply remove the four
screws. |
 |
|
(7).
Put the four screws aside, and slowly pull the speaker out. It is
connected by a clip; all you need to do is push down on the clip to pop it
out. Once this is done you can now remove the old speaker. |
 |
|
(8).
Connect the new speaker (using connectors or splicing into the factory
wire assembly), put everything back together, and get ready to enjoy the
sound of new midrange madness! |
