(1).
First we must modify the wiring under the drivers side dash. In this
picture you can see the two retainers holding the lower closeout panel.
Pull down on this panel to pop the two retainers out. |
 |
|
(2).
With this done, we can now see that the brake pedal switch is exposed.
You can find this switch by the white, orange, and blue wires coming from
it. You must cut the WHITE wire coming from the wiring harness.
In my picture it shows an extra wire, but it is for my aftermarket alarm
(so I just cut past where the wire was tapped in). After the white
wire is cut, I used a little bit of electrical tape to just tape the ends
of the wire. |
 |
|
(3).
Now we will move to the outside. Remove all of the taillight
assemblies. You can do this by using a T-15 star bit. Remove
the two screws and then gently pull the assembly toward you. You
will have to un-plug the lamp assemblies (press in tab, 1/4 turn counter
clockwise). |
 |
|
(4).
We will now locate the the rear harness connector. It is mounted to
the outside of the frame rail behind the right rear tire. I tried to
take a picture of where it is located, but you get the jest of it. I
had to scoot on under the car to do this. Thankfully I am small and
was able to safely fit under the car. However, you may need to jack
up the rear of it if you need more room to work. |

|
(5).
Next we must run the new wiring harness. Insert the connector end of
the new harness through the passenger side tail lamp openings.
Reaching down into the right hand tail lamp opening, the harness should
then be routed into the area between: The front of the rear bumper
frame rail, the outboard side of the passenger side frame rail, and the
top of the muffler heat shield, (routed along the same path as the stock
harness). |
 |
|
(6).
Plug the new harness connectors in to the existing production connectors.
I zip tied the new harnesses together as shown in this picture. Once
you double check all your wiring, you can now put in the new taillight
assemblies. (The purpose of these new taillights are two fold:
First of all, it gives the car a unique look to it, and secondly, it now
uses two bulbs per each assembly; one for the brake, the other for the
turn signal). |
 |
|
(7).
With everything now in place, step back and look at how awesome your Vette
Looks! (On a side note, I am looking into getting new amber bulbs -
I do not like seeing the amber in the housing during the day time. I
will be investing in a silver colored bulb that lights up amber). |
