As of now, the videos are down indefinitely.  Some of you may remember that I purchased an "unlimited" bandwidth package from a new host a few months ago.  Yesterday they informed me that I was grossly misusing the package I signed up for, and they were either going to charge me $200 dollars or terminate my account within 24 hours.  I am already looking into new hosts, however, they are much more expensive that the old one.  If you do not donate money, I will not put new videos up weekly.  I have been pretty good at updating the site and yet no one has donated in months.  EVERY DOLLAR HELPS.

First E-mail from iCanahost

Hello, Our datacenter has informed us that your reseller account is using excessive amount of bandwidth on the server. For the month of May your account has used 1000GB bandwidth. We understand that you have a Unlimited Bandwidth account but every machine has its limits. We will have to ask you to pay $200 for the excessive use of bandwidth for the last couple of months if you would like to continue to host with us. If not then we will have to ask you to take your business elsewhere. Please get back to us in the next 24 hours. If we do not hear from you in the next 24 hours then we will be terminating your account without further notice.

My First Reply to iCanahost

iCanahost Staff – After reading your e-mail I am more than a little perturbed.  There are a few things that are fundamentally wrong with what you wrote to me.  You begin the e-mail claiming “For the month of May your account has used 1000GB bandwidth.”  According to the statistics that my control panel tells me, it shows a little over 600GB.  You may want to double check your facts before flagrantly trying to inflate my bandwidth numbers.  I originally purchased an “Unlimited Domains Reseller Web Hosting” package from an e-bay auction through icanahost on January 29th, 2005 via PayPal.  This was a $149.99 dollar a year subscription for a package that included twenty five gigabytes of storage, UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH, MySQL, FTP, Email, CPANEL 9, etc.  The main item to notice in that list is “unlimited bandwidth.”  For reference, this auction can be found here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3864139727.  As you can see, nowhere in that text does it state that there is a cap for bandwidth.  Therefore, your trying to cancel my account and charge me $200 for excessive use of bandwidth is not only unlawful, but also unethical.  I entered into a pre-agreed amount of $150 dollars a year for your services.  Nowhere did it state additional charges may be filed against me in the case of excessive use of bandwidth.  You yourself state in the e-mail sent to me that, “We understand that you have a Unlimited Bandwidth account but every machine has its limits.”  To put it frankly, you never posted these limits on the auction, and now expect me to pay $200 dollars within a day or have my account terminated, both of which are illegal.  If you insist on continuing to peruse charging me for beyond the pre-agreed amount of $149.99 dollars a year, I insist you refund my money in entirety if you cut me off, or I will report this incident and seek legal action against iCanahost.  Carleton Wesley Yoder

Hello, Yes fundamentally you do have a Unlimited bandwidth account but no company can give you 1000GB/month bandwidth usuage for $150/year You can try any other company and they will charge you an arm and a leg for that kind of usage. The 1000GB usuage is for the month of April. You can check your stats. We're sorry but we cannot give you that kind of usage for that price as we are loosing tons of money because of you. Please back up your files as your account will be terminated in the next 24 hours. iCanahost Staff

What you are doing is illegal.  We entered a legal contract stating you would give me goods and services for $149.99 dollars a year.  As stated, you did not indicate anywhere that there could be repercussions to over usage of this unlimited bandwidth account.  The interesting fact, is that while other companies may charge an arm and a leg for such bandwidth usage, your company choose to take a chance by offering an unlimited bandwidth package without stipulations.  While it is unfortunate that your company is losing money, this is of no concern to me. As for the 1000GB usage, I know it is for the month of April.  You stated the month of May; I was merely pointing out that you were incorrect in your statements.  I will drop this case if you refund my money seeing as my year worth of service has not been fulfilled in full.  If you cancel my account and fail to credit my PayPal account, I will seek legal action because as I have stated many times before, what you are doing is a breach of contract and highly illegal. Therefore, in the end I was able to get half of my money back, though I am now without a host.  As stated, unless you donate money I do not think I will put the videos back up for a while.
