I went to the track twice this summer.  The first time that I went (after the install of my new cam/heads) it was 100 degrees out with lots of humidity.  I raced at Great Lakes Dragway and my best run was a 12.1@118.  I KNEW my car had more in it than that, and to say the least I was a bit disappointed.  I then went to Great Lakes Dragway again on August 16th.  The weather was great, and it wasn't crowded at all.  The temperature for most of my runs were in the upper to mid 70's, and the humidity was decently low.  All I wanted to get was 11's this summer and on my first run down the track that night, I squeaked by with a 11.98@121.79.  I ran a few more times and kept getting 11's consistently but could not get down past 11.9x.  On my last run of the night I pulled off a 11.8@122.39 with a 60" of 1.85.  I was pretty pumped by it and ended the summer on a good note.

I went to the track on 8-16-05 and ran a best of 11.84@122.39.  This video includes an in-car view of a 11.97 run and the outside view of my 11.84 run.

I went back to the Route 66 Track in Joliet, Illinois with a few buddies.  This track is located 632 feet above sea level, it was on average 74 degrees Fahrenheit outside with lower humidity (just a nice night in general).  I lowered my rear tires to 24 PSI, left my fronts at 33 PSI.  Tonight sort of sucked, for two reasons.  First of all, I was only able to get two runs in.  Secondly, my 60" times were horrible.  I recently put the BFG Drag Radials on the car.  Despite this, I did not get lower than a 2.1 60" (I got a better 60" with my stock tires...).  This is due to a few reasons, some of which include I did not do a burnout, and I am not use to the tires at all (first day every using them).  Thus, while my launching can be worked on quite a bit, my 1/4 did go down (as it SHOULD because of the mods I have added).  My best time tonight was a 12.445@117.12.  Not too bad.  On my second run of the night I attempted to powershift fourth, which was a mistake.  I defiantly messed that up and grinded.  I put the car into 4th after that episode, and still ran a 12.579@112.49.  This leads me to believe that if I had nailed 4th gear, I would have had a 12.3xx run.  The Hurst shifter did help, and I believe that my shifting has been steadily improving.  Oh yah, I still have less than 2,500 miles on the car, so that gives you an idea I don't exactly practice all the time with it.

On a side note, the people I went to the track with were really nice.  There was a WS6, Camaro SS, Supercharged GT, Modded 03 Cobra, Modded 01 Z06, and a Firehawk.  On the way home from the track, the Cobra and I (it's Mike's cobra...the same black Cobra you see in pictures on the site) had a few good runs.  We are literally dead even!  I'll try to get video up soon.

August 5th, 2003

Today (8-5-03) I went to the Route 66 Track in Joliet, Illinois with my friend Brian (he drove a car also, hence I have no video from this outing, stay tuned though!).  This track is located 632 feet above sea level, it was on average 84 degrees Fahrenheit outside with humidity hovering around 90%.  I lowered my rear tires to 26 PSI, left my fronts at 33 PSI.  Sadly, I was only able to get in four runs before it RAINED OUTSIDE!  This was a big disappointment because we drove a good hour to get to the track, and then after a few hours it rained despite us checking the weather quite often (said partly cloudy all day).  This sucked for two reasons: First off we could no longer race, and secondly, it was the first time my baby was in the rain.  BUT, I did not use the windshield wipers, so they are still virgins per-say, heh.  The day was not a total loss, however.  I was fortunate enough to run an 12.833 1/4 on my third try, with 113.17mph.  Not bad for being 19, having less than 1,600 miles of manual under your belt (and self teaching yourself manual on a Z06).  I have a lot of room for improvement, but I am just extremely glad I was able to meet my goal of summer, which was to break into the 12's.  Here are a few pictures and my best time slip.  (just for the record, my other times were 13.070 @ 111.66, 13.206 @ 112.67, and 13.143 @ 108.9) Enjoy!

One last thing as just an interesting tidbit, the car I ran against in the time slip shown was a Yellow C3!
